Re-skinning a Djembe Drum

I didn't really know what type of skin it was that's been in my shed for many years.
As hard as a board, I soaked it for 24 hours. It was quite soft after that, but I also noticed that it was rather thick, 3mm+.
Is it a kangaroo skin?

Anyway, it turned out quite a task to stretch it over the rim of the drum, the skin being so thick.

After I noticed that it was not enough pulled down I started the whole thing from scratch. Soaking and lacing.
My hands where really sore...

I like it!
